The Trading feature lets you exchange collections with another SortSwift Mobile App user in person. One user starts a trade (generating a 5-digit code), the other joins by scanning a QR code or entering the code manually. Both sides see the trade in real time and can accept, complete, or cancel.

Tradeable Collections

Before trading, you must have at least one collection list marked as tradeable:

Open Collections
Long-press on a list or use list settings
Toggle "Tradeable" on
Only tradeable lists appear when starting or joining a trade

Starting a Trade Session

To start a trade:

Open the Trading tab
Tap "Start Trade" or equivalent
A 5-digit code is generated (e.g., 12345)
A QR code is displayed that the other user can scan
Select which tradeable list(s) you want to include
Wait for the other user to join

Tip: The 5-digit code expires after a short time. If it expires, start a new trade to get a fresh code.

Joining a Trade

To join an existing trade:

Open the Trading tab
Tap "Join Trade"
Option A: Scan the QR code shown on the other user's device
Option B: Enter the 5-digit code manually
Select which tradeable list(s) you want to offer
You are now in the trade session

Real-Time Trading Interface

During the trade, both users see:

Your side: The cards you are offering
Their side: The cards they are offering
Total values: Sum of each side's value (based on configured price source)
Actions: Accept, Complete, or Cancel

Changes on either side update in real time for both users.

Accept, Complete, and Cancel

Trade actions:

Accept: Indicate you agree to the current offer. Both sides typically need to accept before completing.
Complete: Finalize the trade. Both users' lists are updated—you receive their cards, they receive yours. Results are saved to a new list.
Cancel: Abort the trade. No changes are made to either user's collections.

Completion is Final: Once a trade is completed, the exchange is applied. Ensure both parties have verified the trade before completing.

Completed Trade Results

When a trade is completed:

You receive the other user's offered cards
They receive your offered cards
The results are saved to a new collection list
You can view, edit, or sync the new list like any other collection

Frequently Asked Questions

Do both users need a SortSwift account?

Both users need the SortSwift Mobile App (scanner.sortswift.com). Sign-in may or may not be required for basic trading—check the app for current requirements. Cloud sync of results typically requires sign-in.

Can I trade with someone remotely?

The trading feature is designed for in-person trades where both users can scan a QR code or share the 5-digit code. Remote trading would require sharing the code through another channel (e.g., messaging), and both users must be in the app at the same time.

What if the trade is unbalanced in value?

The app shows total values for each side. You and your trading partner decide whether to proceed. There is no automatic value matching—trades can be completed even if values differ. Use the displayed totals to negotiate.
