Troubleshooting POS
Common POS issues and solutions: card readers, receipt printers, tills, and store credit.
Stripe Terminal Connectivity
If the Stripe card reader is not connecting or payment fails:
- Connection: Ensure the reader is powered, paired (for Bluetooth), and within range
- Stripe Dashboard: Check that the reader is registered and online in your Stripe dashboard
- Browser: Use a supported browser; clear cache if connection drops repeatedly
- Permissions: Ensure staff have POS and payment permissions
Receipt Printer Setup (QZ Tray)
Receipt printing via QZ Tray requires the QZ Tray application to be installed and running on the same machine as the browser.
- Install QZ Tray: Download and install QZ Tray from the official site
- Start QZ Tray: The app must run in the background for print requests to work
- Printer Selection: Configure the correct printer in QZ Tray or POS settings
- Certificates: QZ Tray may require signing/signing certificates for secure printing
Till Management Issues
Multi-till features require proper till opening and closing. Common issues:
- Till Not Open: Staff must open a till before processing sales
- Variance: Cash variance at close is normal; document and reconcile
- Named Terminals: Ensure till names match your physical setup for clarity
Store Credit Sync Issues
Store credit balances sync with Shopify (when integrated). If balances are out of sync:
- Shopify Integration: Ensure Shopify is connected and store credit app/functionality is enabled
- Manual Refresh: Use balance inquiry or sync action to refresh from Shopify
- Deduction Timing: Store credit is deducted at checkout; ensure the transaction completed successfully
