Direct to Web Setup

Stream camera captures directly into SortSwift for rapid-fire scanning stations without manual file uploads.

Hardware Checklist

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with HDMI or USB output.
  • Capture card (e.g. Elgato Cam Link) for HDMI cameras.
  • Tripod or overhead mount for consistent framing.
  • Even, diffused lighting (avoid glare and shadows).
  • Workstation running Chrome or Edge with SortSwift open.

Software Setup

  1. Install the camera's tethering utility or enable USB webcam mode.
  2. Connect the camera to the workstation and verify it appears as a video source.
  3. Open SortSwift and navigate to Scanning → Direct to Web.
  4. Select the camera in the device dropdown and grant browser permissions.
  5. Position the camera over the scanning surface and adjust the frame.

Scanning Workflow

  1. Place cards on the scanning surface and align under the camera guidelines.
  2. Press the capture hotkey (e.g. spacebar) or use a USB foot pedal if configured.
  3. SortSwift captures the image instantly and queues it for recognition.
  4. Review results in the panel, delete misfires, or add notes as needed.
  5. Export to CSV, Excel, PDF, or push to inventory, staging, or buylist when done.

Direct to Web vs Live Camera

Direct to Web is designed for dedicated scanning stations using higher-end cameras (DSLR, mirrorless) with capture cards. The Live Camera scanner at /scanner/sortswift-webcam uses a standard webcam for real-time recognition. Both share the same export options.
