Delete CSV log entries, clean up old import records, and manage log history.
Delete Overview
The delete feature allows you to remove CSV import log entries:
- Individual Deletion: Delete specific import log entries one at a time
- Log History Cleanup: Remove old or unnecessary import records
- Data Preservation: Deleting logs does NOT affect actual inventory data
- Irreversible: Deleted log entries cannot be recovered
- Audit Impact: Deleting logs removes them from audit trail
When to Delete Logs
Common scenarios for deleting import logs:
- Old Records: Remove very old import logs no longer needed
- Test Imports: Delete test imports that were used for development
- Failed Imports: Remove failed imports that were corrected and re-uploaded
- Duplicate Logs: Remove duplicate log entries if they were accidentally created
- Storage Management: Reduce database storage used by old log entries
- Clean History: Keep only relevant import logs for cleaner history view
Delete Process
How to delete a CSV log entry:
- Navigate to CSV History page
- Find the import log entry you want to delete
- Locate the delete button (trash icon) in the action column
- Click the delete button
- Confirm deletion if prompted (some systems may skip confirmation)
- The log entry is immediately removed from the list
- Page may refresh or entry disappears from table
Impact of Deletion
What happens when you delete a log:
- Log Removed: Import log entry is permanently deleted from database
- Inventory Unchanged: Actual inventory items and quantities are NOT affected
- History Lost: Log entry removed from import history (no longer visible)
- Detailed Data: If log was expanded, detailed import/error data is also deleted
- Audit Trail: Removes entry from audit trail - may affect compliance/reporting
- Statistics: May affect import statistics if they rely on log count
Data Preservation
Important: What is NOT deleted:
- Inventory Items: Items that were successfully imported remain in inventory
- Quantities: Quantity changes from the import remain in inventory
- Product Data: Products added or updated by import remain unchanged
- Other Logs: Other import logs, deduction logs, adjustment logs are unaffected
- Related Data: Orders, sales, and other related records are not affected
Before Deleting
Considerations before deleting logs:
- Export First: Export log details to CSV if you need to keep a record
- Verify Age: Ensure the log is old enough that you won't need it
- Check Compliance: Confirm deleting won't violate audit or compliance requirements
- Backup Consideration: Consider if backup/archive is needed before deletion
- Related Logs: Check if log is referenced by other records (unlikely but possible)
- Test Imports: Safe to delete test imports, but verify they're actually test data
Bulk Deletion
Currently, deletion is performed one log at a time:
- Individual Action: Each log must be deleted separately
- No Bulk Delete: No feature to select multiple logs and delete all at once
- Workaround: Filter to show specific logs, then delete them one by one
- Future Enhancement: Bulk deletion may be added in future updates
Warning: Deleted log entries cannot be recovered. Make sure you export or backup important log data before deleting, especially for compliance or audit purposes. Deleting logs does NOT affect your actual inventory data.
