Uploading to Shopify

Step-by-step guide to importing catalog CSV into your Shopify store.

Preparation


Before uploading:

  1. Generate catalog CSV from SortSwift
  2. Download CSV file to your computer
  3. Review CSV in spreadsheet software if desired
  4. Ensure Shopify store is set up and ready
  5. Have admin access to Shopify store

Import Process


Upload and import CSV:

  1. Click "Add file" or drag CSV file into upload area
  2. Wait for file upload to complete
  3. Shopify validates CSV format
  4. Review import preview if shown
  5. Click "Import products" button
  6. Wait for import to complete (can take several minutes for large catalogs)
  7. Review import results and any errors

Import Options


Shopify import settings:

  • Overwrite Existing: Update existing products if handle matches
  • Skip Duplicates: Skip products that already exist
  • Publish Products: Auto-publish imported products (if set in CSV)
  • Import Images: Download images from URLs
  • Review Before Import: Option to review before final import

Handling Import Errors


Common issues and solutions:

  • Format Errors: Ensure CSV format matches Shopify requirements
  • Missing Required Fields: Check that all required fields are present
  • Invalid Values: Review error report for invalid data
  • Image URL Errors: Verify CDN URLs are accessible
  • SKU Conflicts: Resolve duplicate SKU errors
  • Partial Imports: Shopify imports valid rows, skips errors
  • Error Report: Download error report to fix issues

Post-Import Steps


After successful import:

  1. Review imported products in Products list
  2. Check product pages on storefront
  3. Verify images loaded correctly
  4. Review pricing and inventory quantities
  5. Create collections based on tags or types
  6. Set up Shopify integration for ongoing sync
  7. Configure shipping and tax settings

Setting Up Ongoing Sync


After catalog upload, enable automatic sync:

  1. Navigate to /integrations/shopify in SortSwift
  2. Connect your Shopify store
  3. Enable inventory sync and pricing sync
  4. Future inventory changes sync automatically
  5. No need to re-import CSV for updates
